Water $20 Today, more than 1 billion people lack access to safe drinking water. Within the next 25 years, fully one-third of the world’s population will experience severe water scarcity. It is clear that disparities in the availability and supply of fresh water are truly a matter of life and death, and constitute one of the great governance imperatives of our time. This publication summarizes the results of three decades of IDRC-supported research on water supply. It demonstrates that some of the most powerful responses to water scarcities have been mounted at the community or local level in households, farmers’ fields, villages, and city neighbourhoods. You can spend one day trying wakeboarding and water skiing even if you are not a specialist providing you have tutors that will help you. You will be needing a tow boat in addition to a practical sense of balance. Thankfully for guests, resorts have caught on and have started giving instructional classes if you would like to try out these sports activities. A lot of novices who have never tried either sport quickly learn how to wake board or ski on water in a day.
Water Skiing
Water ski is a sports activity that involves balancing on water on a set of skis. The These skis are adjusted versions of the skis you use on snow. You will be grasping a cable attached to the tow boat and riding in the wake of the speeding boat.
Maybe you’ve seen people water skiing on one ski instead of a pair. This is another technique that is best left for more advanced water ski professionals, or those that have undergone intensive training. People can maneuver quicker with only one ski.
Wake Boarding
Wakeboarding is a fairly new sport compared to skiing, water skiing and surfing. It was accidentally discovered by several surfers who tried using modified surfboards instead of skis for water skiing. Word quickly spread and soon, people were ordering their own wake boards. The notion of surfing is kept, with the way the wake boarder navigates or rides the waves formed by the speeding boat.
A small rectangular board is usually used for wakeboarding. The wake board resembles a skateboard in some way. The board's bottom is rounded so that you can skim the surface of the water more effectively. There may also be fins under the board. Safety Gear
You will need to wear a helmet and pads for knees and elbows when you go wakeboarding or skiing on water. Hitting the water at top speed will hurt your body. Make sure your suit can also cover your arms and legs.
Besides the boat driver and the rider, a third person should be present. There should be a spotter on board beside the driver. His job is to tell the driver to slow down or speed up. Even when the rider is a professional, there should be someone there looking out for him. The spotter will also be the one to tell the driver if there are problems, so that the boat can slow down and the rider can be fished out of the water.
