Using A Door That Is Able To Be Covered In The Same Finish As Your Building Can Help With Planning Permission On Your Hangar
Getting planning permission for a hangar door can be difficult. The area where the hangar should ideally be placed is naturally typically in a green belt zone and the council are careful about allowing people to erect large unsightly structures that will spoil the rural area and add another blot to the landscape.
They could recommend that in order to assist the application the building should be built of local material, similar to the some of the other structures around it, for example Accrington brick, slate etc. This is can be easily accommodated on the steel frame shell, which can typically be clad to make it fit in, but what can you do when you get to the door. Here there is regularly an issue.
Frequently, for these sorts of buildings a roller door or a bifold door provide the solution but in these areas they will not blend in well as they are of a completely different product to the rest of the cladding. Normally they are fabric or metal and cannot be constructed of local wood or sandstone. However a door must be incorporated, for security, safety and peace of mind so what alternatives are there.
One idea would be to go for a hanger door that can be enclosed in cladding compiled of the same stuff that the building is clad in. This resolves the chief issue of the planning application as the door merges flawlessly in with it’s setting and ensures that the building looks exactly like the others surrounding it. It also has the further bonus of being much more secure than the other choices, meaning that your jet or plane is far better protected. Regularly these doors provide security against ram raid attempts and other burglary issues as well as being really tough and looking great.
So if you are having problems getting your application through planning on the basis of it’s door design this idea could just be the solution you are searching for.
