How to Pack And Load Your Items For Hassle-Free Transportation
A month or two before the present day, you were able to sign a contract with a moving firm for international removals to Australia. Now, all you need to do is just wait for the truck to arrive. But have you prepared your stuff for loading? Have you segregated them? Preparing your belongings for loading is one of the most crucial elements of moving. A systematically done preparation can save a lot of time, money, and effort for both you and the movers.
Here are a few practical tips on how to prepare your stuff for loading.
1. Disassemble furniture that can be taken apart such as bed frames, sofas, and chairs. Tape or tie the individual components together and label them. By disassembling them, you save a lot of space and weight as you arrange them into the truck.
2. Utilize furniture padding to prevent wooden furniture from being damaged. You can rent padding from the moving company or buy your own at a home-improvement store. Additionally, padding makes it easy for you to slide heavy objects into the truck.
3. Load the largest and heaviest items first such as the gas range, refrigerator, washing machine, and closet---or anything that takes two or more people to move. Ensure that they are arranged at the far wall farthest to the truck's rear and in their upright position. Make sure too that the truck is balanced by placing equally heavy objects on the opposite sides of the vehicle.
4. Load long items such as mattresses, long mirrors, sofas, headboards, and tabletops next. Put these items against the longest wall; this arrangement saves space and keeps the items upright.
5. Next, load the largest and heaviest boxes at the center. Boxes that contain appliances should be placed at the top of heavier boxes to avoid damaging the items inside. Work your way down to the lightest boxes.
6. Lastly, load fragile items or irregularly shaped items.
