About Old Time Radio Performer Phil Harris

Phil Harris was a well-known musician and comedian who could be heard on the old time radio in many different shows including The Fitch Bandwagon that later became the Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show.

Phil grew up in Nashville, TN and was born in Indiana. Growing up, he got into drumming from quite a young age, and took this further in the 1930s when he started up his very own band.

The film industry was another part of the entertainment world that Phil Harris dipped into. In 1933 he made a filmed called So This is Harris for RKO. His film went on to win the Oscar for best live action short subject.

Harris joined the Jack Benny Show in 1936 as the show's new director of music. The band had him as their lead and he also sang. He was not just restricted to musical roles, as he had a speaking part as a funny character from the South. During this stint, he gained a following for his musical and comedic talents. At the same time he began recording swing tunes with unusual arrangements that made his music really stand out from the crowd.

In 1941 he married Alice Faye, who he remained married to for 54 years. Even though this was not their first marriage, this second marriage with each other was the perfect one. Soon enough, the two joined the Fitch Bandwagon.

While the show was originally developed to highlight all kinds of swing bands, Phil and Alice became immediate fan favorites and eventually their popularity led to the show morphing into the Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show.

This version of the show was a comedy that featured one song from the couple each episode. The show was incredibly popular and ran for six years. 1954 was when the show finally broadcast its last show. Old Time Radio were soon being dropped in favor of their television counterparts.

As a musician, he kept with his musical career upbringing. He made television appearances and did voiceover work including the voices of Disney characters Baloo in the Jungle Book, Thomas O'Malley in the Aristocats, and Little John in Robinhood.

Later on in his life, Harris gave back to the communities in which he grew up, with donations to students of Linton (his hometown) and Palm Springs, where he spent much time as a young adult. A lot of his merchandise was handed over to the Linton Public Library, and it can still be found there. In 1995 he passed away due to a heart attack. Wife Alice Faye would survive him for another 3 years.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! 99 and 44/100% Dead is a 1974 action film directed by John Frankenheimer and starring Richard Harris. The title is a play on an advertising slogan for Ivory soap. Harry Crown, a stylish professional hit man with a pair of Browning Hi-Power 9mm pistols with ivory grips, carried in a shoulder holster, is brought in by mob boss "Uncle Frank" Kelly when his operation is challenged by Big Eddie, a grinning, lisping rival. Crown is caught in the crossfire, as is his romantic interest, Buffy, a third-grade schoolteacher. In his attempt to take over the rackets, Big Eddie has hired Marvin "The Claw" Zuckerman, a sadistic one-armed killer with a prosthetic attachment that includes machine guns and knives. Buffy is abducted, causing Harry to ignore Uncle Frank's warnings not to take on Eddie's men in broad daylight. A showdown in a warehouse results in The Claw being overpowered and literally disarmed. Harry appears to be too late to save Buffy, but a gunshot rings out and Big Eddie falls to the ground, slain by Uncle Frank.
