Sun Country Airlines Resurrected And Stronger Than Before
Sun Country Airlines has its own story that tells about a smaller airline fighting to survive in recent difficult economic times and coming out on top. Sun Country Airlines, like any other airline - large or small, provided enough value and accumulated the kind of assets to enable them to remain in business. The current global economy in the past several years have presented enormous challenges for all airlines. Sun Country Airlines is still operating even if they are in bankruptcy reorganization as of late 2010. Indeed, it is a positive sign that a reorganization plan was approved by all parties involved. However when you look at all they have accomplished as well as their numerous service awards, then that only makes good sense.
After being purchased by investors more than 8 years ago Sun Country Airlines was able to resume regular flight schedules. These schedules transported passengers to Orlando, LA, Denver and a number of other destinations. Among the destinations transporting passengers was Orlando, Los Angeles and Denver just to name a few. Shortly thereafter even more destinations were added such as Washington DC and New York. The quickly became a popular carrier in Minnesota where it's corporate operations are based. Service to passengers has been the main goal of improvement since their return in early 2002.
Sun Country Airlines got its start by former Braniff Airlines employees in 1982 after the latter went under. Once they secured funds by outside investors, they were able to put everything together and launch their brand new airlines. Imagine having only one service destination, Las Vegas, and that is how they started. Their approach was simple, they made a business alliance with a local travel business and chartered flights to the gambling mecca in Nevada. That was a basic plan and profitable approach because they became profitable in less than two months.
International flights began in July, 2010 for Sun Country when they announced flights to London and Hawaii. The Boeing 737 - 800 twin engine airliner was the chosen aircraft. However the airlines is no stranger to trans-Atlantic crossing with twin engine aircraft. The company's maiden trans-Atlantic flight took place the prior month when they carried passengers to London from Minneapolis/St. Paul. Sun Country is not considered a large operator although it does operate along the same lines as a regional operation would. But they do offer popular destinations to the Caribbean and other favorite warm-weather spots in the US and Mexico. The company was originally started by people who worked for Braniff airlines. This happened after Braniff went out of business these experienced and talented individuals founded Sun Country. It was then that they decided that Sun Country would thrive on the highest quality customer experience they could possibly provide.
