Fifteen cartoons dating from World War II give Volume 6 of the Looney Tunes Golden Collection more focus than previous sets. Many of the 1940′s cartoons remain very funny. Bugs Bunny dresses up as Brunnhilda and rides in to the strains of “Tannhauser” in “Herr Meets Hare” (1945), a gag Chuck Jones re-used to greater effect in “What’s Opera, Doc” a dozen years later. In “Russian Rhapsody” (1940…

Tom and Jerry – Spotlight Collection

$10.77

Tom and Jerry, the animation franchise, lasted six decades and saw several geniuses of the form–Chuck Jones, Tex Avery, and Friz Freleng–have a hand in updating and refreshing the series in later years. But Tom and Jerry: The Spotlight Collection, Premiere Volume celebrates the original mastery of producer-directors William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, who took the familiar cat-chases-mouse concept…

Examining The Role Of Chuck Jaws In The Manufacture Of Metal Items

In the world of manufacture the use of rotary tables is commonplace for those looking to shape metal components. The rotary table serves to hold a metal object in place whilst shaping tools are moved against its surface to cut out the required dimensions. As the name suggests, a rotary table can also rotate which allows the shaping tools to approach from different angles; facilitating the shaping of more complex items. However, in order for a rotary table to work to its full potential it is essential that it is fitted with appropriate chuck jaws. Read on for an overview of what chuck jaws are and their role in the machining process.

The basics

Fundamentally, chuck jaws are a clamping device which secures the object being shaped in place. They usually have three jaws that can be mounted onto the rotary table by using T-slots. In addition to standard versions there are more specialised models that are suitable for a variety of uses. For instance it is possible to purchase bar gripper chuck jaws which are specifically used to manufacture bar-shaped components.

Operational information

Most chuck jaws will be operated via computer technology and automatically tighten against the work piece. In the manufacture of some components it is necessary to tighten chuck jaws manually. This approach enables jaws to be set at different distances from the machine centre. Where irregular shaped pieces are being made it will normally be the case that four jaws will be used rather than three.

Maintaining quality

Manufacturers must continue to manufacture quality items in order to ensure repeat custom and maintain safety. In order to do this they must purchase quality chuck jaws that are made from high level materials and which will not wear quickly. Only by doing this can they ensure that the accuracy of their machining operation remains within satisfactory standards.
