Two Great DSLR's- Canon 60D vs 7D Under The Spotlight
The Canon EOS 60D, released early in 2010 is one of the technology breakthroughs of the millenium.
I had the chance to amuse myself with both a 60D and a 7D recently and they got my heart racing.
A high tech SLR or DSLR Camera is just in another league to compact cameras and other image capturing devices. OK. I do own a good compact, but not for trying to take prize photographs. I was comparing these two beauties with other DSLR's null Normally I appreciate lesser weight because I take my kit on long walks, but I loved the feel of these slightly heavier and larger than my models. One has to experience the rapid fire of 5FPS to appreciate what you get for the money. And the results show in the shots. Subtle differences in facial expressions give you great choices. The 60D did not have the same exhilarating 5PFS but the vari-angel screen and movie features made me want to become a film producer.
On studying my shots later I had no keepers, but the 5FPS value came through . Small changes in facial expression, catching subjects blinking and not, etc. Above 12 MP it is tough to see the difference in quality of 18 MP's. I cannot honestly say that I can.
I am perhaps wet behind the ears in believing that an APS-C camera can take precisely the same quality photographs as Full Frame professional toys in 99% of cases. I just don't believe all the web based 'evidence' of full frame superiority.
I would like to find someone who can do it the other way round. Look at a good photograph and tell me whether it was taken with an APS-C or Full Frame DSLR.
Between the Canon 60D vs 7D, the 60D seems to have better value for money. It is more up to date with the video function and the vari-angle LCD is a very handy feature. Given also that it is roughly 30% less expensive, it is a very attractive buy.
These APS-C Cameras are as good as the professional DSLR's any day and I would love to have one. But alas, for the moment I can just write about the Canon 60D vs 7D, and that has to satisfy my interest for the time being.
