Signs of Ovulation - What are they?
There are many signs of ovulation and these would vary from one lady to another. The period when you ovulate could also vary from lady to lady. Some women ovulate on a regular basis while others ovulate on differing days of every cycle.
The first step in identifying when you ovulate is to narrow down the dates you’re most likely to ovulate next. After narrowing the dates, you could now begin focusing on the differing signs of ovulation.
If you aim to conceive a baby, you should be able to determine when you are ovulating. It is the time you’re most probably going to conceive. You may time sex in order to boost up the likelihood of getting a healthful pregnancy. Here is a quick guide in tracking your time ovulation.
The cervical discharge
Your cervical fluid can begin to resemble egg whites when you are nearing ovulation. It would begin to appear clear, slippery and also stretchy. The time when you have the most cervical fluid discharge is the period of ovulation. Changes in the texture and appearance of the cervical fluid may be attributed to the elevating levels of estrogen in the system. The fluid generally functions as a barrier for protection. But when ovulation happens, it would allow sperm cell to swim through it and helps it pass the cervix and then go up to the uterus. It brings the sperm cell to the fallopian tube where the fertilization would take place.
Basal temperature of the body
Typically, your body temperature is going to be constant in the time prior to ovulation. When you are almost going to ovulate, the basal temperature of the body will go down and then rise again. Such increase could be anywhere around 0.4 degrees up to 1.0 degrees. The instant increase in temperature after the drop symbolizes ovulation has just occurred. When the ovaries release an egg cell, progesterone creation is promoted. This increases the temperature of the body.
You are going to be most fertile throughout the two to three day interval prior to the spike in the basal body temperature. When you get to see the increase, the egg cell could have expired already and the fertilization will be too late. Remember that the egg cell only survives for 12 – 24 hours after ovulation period. Track your basal body temperature every day and soon you’ll see a pattern to help in predicting the next ovulation.
Firmness of the cervix
When you’re about to ovulate, you will see that your cervix will become softer, higher, wetter and more open than the usual. Such change might not be that fast. You’ll have to pay more attention to your body within a few months to determine the difference.
Changes in cervical discharge, basal body temperature and cervical firmness are indications seen in most women. There are also other less common signs of ovulation which will appear in some women. Below are some examples.
You might experience light spotting when you get to ovulate. Breast might begin to be tender and could hurt. Your abdomen may seem enlarged. You might experience an enhancement in your sex drive. You could have a sharper sense of smell, sense of taste and clearer vision.
You might feel mild menstrual cramps on one side of the pelvis. Almost 1/5 of women feel pain from ovulatory activities. The cramps that you might experience would vary from mild twinges to serious pain. Some women could even faint because of pain coming from menstrual cramps. "Mittelschmerz" is a sort of a cramp that could last from a few minutes to a few hours.
Learning to notice signs of ovulation would be hard at first. But the longer you pay attention to your body, the more you’ll be able to discern the signs. It will also help you determine any issues in your menstrual cycle if you begin noticing abnormal patterns.
